It can sometimes feel overwhelming when you're the one
in charge of planning a baby shower. Not only do you
need to get invitations ready, you also have to find
decorations and provide a gift
for the Mom-to-be. Here are some tips to get you
started.
Understand that the new Mom will be very excited
and somewhat apprehensive about having a
child. As the party planner for the Baby shower,
you should be attentive to every last detail so that she
has nothing to worry about. Everything from
decorating to the clean-up.
First, give yourself plenty of time to organize the
shower. Even up to six weeks prior to the shower date
and be sure you get as accurate of a head count as
possible. You'll want to send out the invitations at
least three weeks before the shower happens. It's
also a good idea to follow up with the potential attendees
either by phone or email a week or so before the
shower.
Second, you'll want to pick an overall
Baby Shower Theme. If you know what the sex of
the baby will be, this can help in choosing the decor
considerably. Also, the new Mom has no doubt been
putting together her new baby's room. What theme did
she select? Can you use this as part of the baby
shower theme? Whenever you can couple something the
Mother has worked hard on with the baby shower, you're sure
to hit a home run.
Third, many baby showers have games at the party.
Consider those who are attending the shower and what their
tastes are. Keep it to a minimum, two or three games
should work well.
As a Mom of two myself and having thrown a baby shower
or more in my lifetime, I know that perhaps the best step
you can take initially is to involve the Mother to
be. Find out what she would like, what she most
definitely doesn't want, what colors she prefers, if she
wants a themed party and more.
The new Mom-to-be will be delighted with the thought and
care you have put into throwing her
baby shower; whether it be for her first child or her
fourth.
